You’re Not Imagining It

A space for women to share the things they thought were “just part of being a woman."

Moments of wellbeing, shared.

Sarah's Story

I was told that severe pain and heavy bleeding for more than a week were completely normal, and that extremely low moods & vomiting a week before your period are "just part of being a woman". I wish GPs had better awareness of what is "normal", as these are actually symptoms of PCOS and PMDD. I am grateful that I am getting help now, but I should not have struggled until my mid-30's without support.

Matilda's Story

I’ve struggled with PCOS since I was 16. When I was diagnosed, I was told I’d struggle to get pregnant, avoid carbs, and that was it. Years later, I sought more support but was told the pill was my only option until I wanted children. It made me feel awful physically and emotionally, and after six months of constant bleeding, mood swings, and not feeling like myself, I decided to come off it. Since then, I’ve focused on supporting my body through sustainable lifestyle changes - and realised there’s so much more to managing PCOS than simply being told to “go on the pill.”

Naomi's Story

I had really awful, heavy periods and migraines every month from the age of 13. I went to the doctor and was told to go on the pill but it made me feel awful, so low, flat and sad. I eventually came off and while my emotions felt more positive, my periods came back worse than before. It wasn't until I came across natural supplements to manage my hormonal health that my periods became regular, light and my migraines completely disappeared.

Women's Health

Elsie's Story

For years, I struggled with overwhelm, forgetfulness and feeling like my brain just worked differently, but as a woman it was constantly brushed off as stress, hormones, and anxiety. Looking back, so many of the signs of ADHD were there all along, yet because I didn’t fit the stereotype, they were overlooked. Being considered for a diagnosis later in life has been so validating, but also frustrating, as I realised how long I spent blaming myself for things I never fully understood.

A place where Women's stories are heard, held and shared

We've opened a small, warm corner of the interest where women can hear the things other women have been carrying - and be reminded that what they've been feeling is real, it has company and they don't have to carry it alone.
