How do you make hummus? 🤔
Whichever hummus recipe you choose, it will almost always be made using a base of chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice and olive oil.
Tahini is a paste made with sesame seeds, it is a staple food in many Mediterranean and Middle Eastern countries. You can get it from most large supermarkets and you only use 1-2 tablespoons per recipe. So, a little goes a long way and one jar of tahini will be enough to make a few batches of homemade hummus!
When blended together, tahini gives chickpeas a rich and creamy texture and the olive oil and lemon juice help to loosen things up for a light and glossy finish! All that's left to do is add your seasoning, preferred herbs & spices and any extras to flavour the hummus - before blending once more.

Hummus is super versatile so you can add pretty much anything you like when blending, to create a different texture and flavour every time.
This recipe uses perfectly ripe avocado to bring a super smooth texture, delicious avo flavour and an extra dose of energising healthy fats. The lemon juice also helps to keep the avo from oxidising (discolouring), so you also get a vibrant green hummus which just screams goodness!

AVOCADO CLEAN GREENS HUMMUS RECIPE
HEALTHY, VEGAN & GLUTEN-FREE
INGREDIENTS:
- 230g washed and drained tinned chickpeas (1 can)
- 150g ripe avocado flesh
- 80ml water
- 20g tahini
- 20ml olive oil
- 1 garlic clove
- 1 tablespoon Clean Greens
- Squeeze of fresh lemon juice
- Pink salt & black pepper
- Sesame seeds for topping (optional)
METHOD:
- Place all ingredients into high speed blender or food processor and blend until smooth and creamy
- Taste and adjust the seasoning, adding an extra squeeze of lemon and a pinch of salt & pepper if desired
- Leave to set in fridge for 2 hours and enjoy as spread or dip
