Avocado on toast is a favourite healthy snack of ours but it can get a little repetitive. Sometimes you just need to mix it up a bit to keep things interesting!

This avocado spread recipe couldn't be simpler or easier to make, but really takes your avocado on toast game to the next level. With the addition of lemon and a quick blend to make a creamy, smooth spread - it's couldn't be fresher or tastier.

How can you tell when an avocado is ripe?

Sometimes it seems as though you need a crystal ball to know whether your avocado is ripe - and there's few things more disappointing than preparing your avo only to find it is too hard or past it's best 😣

So how can you tell when your avocado is perfectly ripe and ready to use?

Aside from the classic 'squeeze and see' (which can be a little unreliable and may also bruise your avocado flesh) you can also look at the cap of the avocado, where the stem would have been.

If this can easily be removed and the flesh underneath is dark green to brown, this is a good indication that your avocado is ripe and ready to use. However, if the cap is a little resistant to coming off, you should wait until it loosens before enjoying.

  • 1 perfectly ripe avocado
  • 1 teaspoon Clean Greens
  • 60ml cold water
  • Squeeze of lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt



  1. Place all ingredients in small blender attachment and blend until creamy and combined
  2. Serve on toast with tomatoes and greens, seasoning with salt and pepper - then enjoy!
